Chapter 6 : Weak of the Covers

I've decided to try something different this time around.

I've been going through alot of my old albums and listening to all sorts of music lately and so I've been having all sorts of music going through my head and I thought I'd share some of my favorite songs with you.

For the next week I'm going to record a cover song a day; I'm going to try and pick a song that best describes my mood the day I record it. It will just be recorded with my acoustic guitar and my vocals. I hope this doesn't scare too many people away from my blog (as if I haven't done that already).

So be sure to check back each day for a new song (probably sometime in the PM rather then AM).

Day 7 - 8/21/04 : Slipknot - "Vermillion, Pt. 2"
- A dark song for a dark Saturday afternoon. Since it was the last day of this chapter I thought I'd go all out and do some background vocals and show some of my skills on piano (TEH!).

Day 6 - 8/20/04 : A Perfect Circle - "The Nurse Who Loved Me"
- Maynard is one of my favorite singers and he writes some great music, although he didn't write this one. This is actually a cover of a cover and I can't remember who did the original version right now, so teh.

Day 5 - 8/19/04 : System of a Down - "Roulette"
- The first acoustic SOAD song and it's filled with so much confusion, I just had to play this.

Day 4 - 8/18/04 : The Pixies - "Where is My Mind?"
- Now that the Pixies are back I really need to go see them in concert since I've never seen them live. This song does sound alot better with the electric guitar part (that I'm not playing).

Day 3 - 8/17/04 : Oasis - "She's Electric"
- My cousin Edwin plays this tune every time he visits NJ, so I started listening to it and I had to play it for him.

Day 2 - 8/16/04 : Our Lady Peace - "Thief"
- OLP is one of my favorite bands. Any male singer who likes to sing like a female is always fun to listen to.

Day 1 - 8/15/04 : Pearl Jam - "Off He Goes"
- I'm not really too big of a Pearl Jam fan anymore. I do like their 3rd and 4th albums, I don't like the new stuff or the old stuff too much, I'm stuck in between. This song brings back young memories.

To everyone who listened thank you. It was a fun week.

Chapter 5 : The 3rd of July That Was

Date: July 3rd, 2004
Location: Michael Debbi Park - Richland (Mojito) , NJ
Event: Richland's Annual 4th of July Party

On July 3rd of this year I set out on a mission with my cousin Edwin to decipher the meaning of Richland's Annual 4th of July Party, to interview some event goers and to figure out what the hell the locals are thinking.

We were in search of beer in all the wrong places, spotted some mullets, battled the Hulk on the eve of Spiderman 2's world domination, tried bribing some 12 year olds with beer and pot in exchange for a "jump" and interviewed "Oscar".

We might've gone too far this time, but too far is never enough.
